Alexa moved from San Diego, California to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Psychology while playing collegiate softball at the University of Mobile. After completing her bachelor’s degree, she earned her Master of Arts in Psychology while working as a full-time graduate assistant for the athletic department, finishing the graduate program at the top of her class.
Alexa spent six years working with individuals struggling with opiate and other addictions, including alcohol, benzodiazepines and amphetamines. She previously served as Program Coordinator of a Transitions Program in Baldwin County that assisted high-risk youth facing serious criminal charges, and worked five years as an outpatient therapist in many of the Mobile Public School System’s schools, providing drug and alcohol therapy as well as family therapy. In total, Alexa has ten years of experience in the field.
Alexa is trained and equipped to provide services to all age groups. She takes an eclectic approach in session, most often drawing on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy and Existential Therapy. Because no two individuals share the same concerns or reasons for seeking therapy, treatment is customized to each client and designed to meet them where they are. Her work addresses anxiety, depression, PTSD, couples and marriage difficulties, life transitions, family conflict, LGBTQ+ concerns, addiction and more.
